Fruity, light-bodied, pleasant, lush and charming, Lynch Bages’ winemaking team was hesitant to push for any kind of extraction or density because of the pressures from rot. They have avoided any harshness in the tannins and vegetal characteristics. The result is an uncharacteristically superficial Lynch Bages that is a modern day version of their 1973.2013 Lynch-Bages is smooth, elegant, well-balanced with a nice length and mellowed tannins. Plenty of fruit and liquorice to finish.
92 Points – James Suckling Aromas of blackberry, black currant and flowers. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Extremely well done for the vintage. Drink or hold.
91 Points – Wine Spectator This solid red sports a tangy iron streak from the start, with lively red currant and briar patch notes forming the core. A zip of savory cuts through the finish, which reveals lightly chewy grip in the end. Best from 2017 through 2023.
90 Points – Decanter Dense colour and deep cassis fruit, depth and vigour for 2013, a muscular Pauillac with a good future. Drinking Window 2018 – 2030.
